9 Month Checkup
Colby passed his 9 month checkup with flying colors. He weighed 20 pounds 6 ounces putting him at the 50th percentile for weight, which is a higher percentile than any of his previous visits (he really likes food). His height was 27" putting him at 25th percentile for height, which is right where he was before. His head was the subject of some debate. Once again the Dr. decided he had to redo the head measurement that the nurse had taken before him. Even after the second measurement Colby is at the 100% percentile for head size. This was of some concern to the Dr., as head size can be a sign of brain swelling or other bad things. Then I mentioned that I have a big head, and the Dr. decided to measure my head. My head was literally too big for his first measuring device, so he went and found a tape measure and measured me at 24". That seemed really big to him, so he went and found some reference book, came back and showed us that a 23" head in an adult puts you at the 98th percentile. So the fact that I was well above the 98th percentile made him feel better about Colby's head size, but they will continue to monitor it anyway. Colby also got his second dose of the flu shot and never even flinched!
